Some Happening & Thoughts
I know. No pictures in this post. Next time. Promise to unload the camera.
Here is why I should not stay home all day Sunday. This is what I did and this is more typical than you'd believe.
1. Watered both rose bushes. Involved hauling hose halfway around house.
2. Pulled growing weeds out front, yanking to get roots (also did out back on Saturday).
3. Watered grass in back yard.
4. Gathered garbage in house.
5. Put garbage and yard waste cans in the alley for pickup in morning.
6. Changed sheets on the bed (king size!).
7. Washed the sheets, put in dryer, folded and put away when dry.
8. Walked 10 minutes on the treadmill at my usual 17mph speed.
9. Worked on a washcloth.
10. Did dishes. Twice.
11. Got clothes and coffeemaker and other stuff ready for work.
12. Swept patio.
13. Swept the front stairs (lots of pine needles - back yesterday!).
14. Called mom and brother.
15. Put away clean dishes. Twice.
16. Cleaned in both bathrooms.
17. Watched a movie.
Busy days, yes?
Tonight while talking to my friend Jeannie she asked me how I like my house. I guess I haven't said a lot about that and I need to make this VERY CLEAR.
I LOVE MY HOUSE!!!
Yes, being alone a lot can be really hard. But you know, tonight I realized something - as much of a control freak as I am, it's probably a good thing I live alone. I have everything my way. And if I don't like it and don't fix it, I have nobody to blame but me.
Besides, nobody in their right might would have wanted to witness me on the treadmill half walking, half dancing to Fleetwood Mac's "Rumors". Boy, in 5 minutes I got as much exercise as the usual 10. You try twisting and shaking your hips and shoulders while you walk at 17mph. But darn it was fun.
I also cooked myself one killer meal. Bisquick chicken with a glass of chocolate milk, baked beans and fiber enriched bread. Oh I think that meal will be departing in a timely manner. But, again, darn it was fun.
On Susan's advice I am taking more vitamin C. And tonight I am exhausted!
One final note... a shout-out to my twitter friend Ruthie Appleby. She is an amazing woman and a wonderful friend. She listens to me all the time and has pearls of wisdom to share. She's truly a nice new friend to have. And, honestly, can't we all use more good friends? Thanks for bumping into me Ruthie!
I will unload the camera and post pictures. I hope by this weekend.
I'm making a new list of things I need to do - like alphabetize my CDs. I was looking for my Beach Boys "Endless Summer" but couldn't find the B's. So that is a weekend project. And so I will make a list this time on paper instead of in my head. Maybe I'll get it all done this time.
Until my next post, don't worry about me. I'm doing fine. I hold hope that the weather will eventually cool off and winter is coming. I like the cold. And the rain. And, mostly, October brings 2 weeks of vacation.
Oh, did I mention that it'll soon be CELTICS TIME!! Yup. Learn to live with it. I am so excited that the first game of the season they play the Miami Heat. I hope the Celtics whip their butts! Now all we need is for Shaq to sign. What a victory! A former Laker ends his career as a Celtics and helps them win against his old team. Oh how sweet that victory would be! I've saved all summer for the DirecTV League Pass so I can watch or DVR every single Celtics game.
What a sight I must be! The old mutant penguin with very little hair, bad eyes and ears, short, fat, screaming for her Celtics. Yes, I am a rabid fan. And on the west coast that is not an easy thing being a Celtics fan. But I don't care. Now if I can get to Boston in October I'm getting myself a Scalabrine shirt and if Shaq joins, one with his name. Now that is an interesting thought.
So goodnight all. A tweet or two and then it's off to dreamland. Until later, remember, The Mutant Penguin Herself is doing ok even if she is lonely once in a while. A good job that I love, a house that I love, great friends and family. Lots of blessings. And I wish the same for you!
