Progress
Yes, there is progress! My satellite is working so I have tv. My clock is on the wall. My computer is up and running. The telephone and answering machine are connected. Actually, the phone and DSL were both enabled on Friday and while I had the phone plugged in on Friday, the answering machine and computer just got done today. A huge thanks to David and Adam who made everything possible, before, during and after the move.
I am going to be nice and NOT post pictures of my bruises although I did take pictures just so I could remember. Instead, I took a few preliminary pictures so here's a little bit of what it looks like. Once I get some pictures up on the wall I will try to take better pictures to post. Of course better yet, come visit me!
On the left is the corner containing the bookcase and my deceased daughter Shannon's urn and pictures. Yes, books, too.
On the right is a picture of a good portion of the headboard. It has family pictures with two exceptions and those are pictures my Mom let me have which hold great positive emotional family memories - one is a picture of Niagara Falls where my parents spent their honeymoon and the other is a little child with a dog which my dad had since forever. I remember seeing it as a child hanging on the wall of their bedroom at the farm where I grew up (until it burned when I was 14). And for those of you who don't know, I have a California King platform bed with 3 drawers underneath on each side. The headboard is a bookcase. The bed cost me, including mattress, about $2k when I bought it almost 10years ago. I love the thing. I have always been nutty about making sure wherever I live, it can go.
And now... here is one of the greatest features of my new room which was so totally UNplanned... Look and see if you can figure out why...
This is the corner opposite the bookcase, on the side of the bed where I sleep. The pretty little lamp is a touch lamp that I almost didn't bring but I use it all the time and I am SO glad I have it here! Have you figured it out yet? Look carefully... I can lie in bed and reach out across and get a cup of coffee without ever leaving the bed!! Every night I set up the pot and put my extras in the coffee cup so all I have to do is either put the "auto" on so it makes the coffee automatically or press "on" and then just wait a little. Oh yes... it's a Hamilton Beach which dispenses one cup at a time. I bought it last year on Black Friday and I absolutely *love* it.
I will do my first load of laundry tomorrow night and I will empty my garbage in the morning, two routine things I need to get into the routine of performing. I have to figure out what pictures are going where and hang them over the long weekend. I plan on going in the hot tub tomorrow night and we're going to watch a few things we've stored up on the DVR.
I may not eat dinner with them every night but I always spend time with them. I am going to have to sit down with David and figure out how to do the meal thing because I think I like the idea of eating with them every night. We'll see.
I have been knitting, too, but haven't taken any pictures of that to post to the other blog.
I had to buy 2 new tires today because one was flat this morning and the AAA man recommended it. I knew they had to be but wanted the move over first. So I think now it's time to have a good long weekend and to have many things go right. I am spending Thanksgiving with Susan and her family. I will stay overnight and we will go shopping on Black Friday. I have to figure out how much money to bring with me. And what, if anything, I really would like to have. I am sure that WalMart will have some cheap DVDs and hopefully they'll be something I want.
I have missed being in touch and blogging. Hopefully I can find time to do it on a fairly regular basis. For now I am going to go watch some tv and knit before bed.
Life moves ahead. Know that for now, even though there have been glitches, it at least seems to be moving in a positive direction.
