Idea Theft
You know, the upcoming movie with Morgan Freeman and Jack Nicholson looks absolutely terrible but I love the concept. I can't remember the exact title and I am too tired to go look in the holiday preview issue of "Entertainment Weekly" sitting on my bed but it's about two guys who make a "Bucket List". Yeah, things to do before they kick the bucket. So I'm going to steal that idea and start a partial list. Some of the things I just can't put in a blog.
In no particular order, here are things I would love to do or experience before I die.
1. Have Matt run up to me in an airport, arms outstretched, smiling, yelling, "Hello Grammy!", jump into my arms and give me a big kiss. And never let go.
2. Hold a granddaughter in my arms as a newborn baby.
3. Wear a real Irish sweater and walk among the green grass of Ireland. Yes, part of me is Irish. My grandmother's maiden name was Cochrane.
4. Swim in the Caribbean again.
5. Be able to walk into a church, sit down and not cry.
6. Retire and not be poor or homeless or hungry or alone.
7. Watch the sun rise over the north pole. Again.
8. Walk in the woods in Berwick, Maine, in the spring among the lily-of-the-valley and pussywillows. And pick lilacs on Rochester Hill. Spring in New England.
9. Stand at Pike's Market in Seattle among a gentle, warm rain with someone I care about, be it friend or family.
10. Visit Egypt.
It's a start. It's an idea. And it's something to think about. I don't consider them goals. Just things I wish I could do or feel or experience. Some may come true. Even two or three would be really good. Just don't ask me to pick.
